Colours 08

Excellent day out and many purchases made! The lead mountain increases again.

Managed three 1st places in the painting competitions.

Single Foot - Musketeer Minis Pirate

Single Mounted - French Cuirassier General

Vignette - Sgt Ewart

All are in the gallery already

Also took a second in the Fantasy Group section too. These will appear in the Gallery section when I get chance.

What did I buy? Numerous Perry blisters, Great War Miniatures, Infinity, Steve Barber Napoleonics, various bits and bobs for basing, several books.....and a cup of tea and a pie. Hungry work all that shopping!

It was just a theory ref the Staff Group. Maybe the other entry was just considered better. Thats ok, I never mind getting beat by a better figure. Just wish I new which one it was! As regards Ewart...he didnt win the SD comp, got a sound thrashing in the final!!! So he was okay at Colours.

So the Colours judges counted the SD Forum as a previous comp, did they? Hmmm, not convinced by that. The SD Forum is a private members-only just for fun affair. it's Colours loss if they're gonna exclude quality entries from all of us. And surely they should have been consistent and excluded Sgt Ewart on the same grounds? Or are you thinking of a different competition than me?

I'm none the wiser about the eventual winner in that category. Surely it wasn't the cavalry unit? I didn't think that was up to much.

That's two years in a row we haven't bumped into each other. We really must try harder next time around.

Martin, I think that my command group may have been regarded as having won a previous competition, which is against the rules. Even tho 50% of the group were new figures. I didn't even get to see the winning entry!! Must have been on and off the table in a flash!! Maybe see you there one year. Bob.

Congrats HB! I thought I also saw some of your Perry French high command figs in the competition too. Surprised they didn't pick up a rosette!

I spent money on a pie too and I got one Perry pack (but I didn't have to pay for it thanks to Peter F's generosity).
