Had a good run at him and managed to finish him off. He is a Foundry figure and quite a nice sculpt, tho not as detailed as I first thought unfortunately.
I have painted him as a Louisiana Tiger, (Wheats Zoauve's) and resisted the temptation to go for the probably inaccurate brown uniform. Now I just need to find the time to take his photograph and get him on the site! As I expected I did struggle a bit with the stripey trousers and shading. He looks ok in the hand but the all seeing camera lens will show him and all his faults!!
On the outside chance that I will get to Colours at Newbury I will be doing a GW High Elf next, to go with the one already completed. This will enable me to get an entry in the Fantasy Unit category as only two figures are required. I do like GW figures, always delightful little figures to paint. I will be taking my time with him so there will probably be a bit of a gap before he appears.....or anything else for that matter!
I have quickly thrown together a brief run through of how I do NMM. I hope someone actually reads it now!
It would seem that anyone who does read it and has a question they would like to ask.....there isn't a comments/questions bit! Use this blog entry comments bit if you do have a question.
Next I'll do faces/skin tones as I get quite a few queries about this aswell.
I certainly won't be doing one on basing thought!!
Now I have undercoated a Foundry Zouave figure as my next in line to be painted. Now all I have to do is decide which regiment. Quite fancy a shot at Louisiana Tiger bit on this particular sculpt the trousers have a lot of folds in then which will make doing the stripey bits very tricky. But then I do like a challenge

I get quite a few emails asking how I do my NMM gold and faces. I will endeavour to add a new section to the site and give a brief description of how I do these aspects of my painting. Don't hold your breath though.......there is never much time to pursue the hobby at the best of times! But I will try.
Berdans are all based up and the lancer himself is finished. Just his horse to go and I'll post some pics up when I get chance over the next couple of weeks hopefully.
Not sure what to do next......Custer is shouting at me to do him.......so are the Empress figures...and I found a nice looking Copplestone Henry VIII that I forgot I bought not too long ago! But then again I have enjoyed doing the lancer so much that I may just have to do a nice French hussar general. What was his name? Fournier I think, without checking my books.
Now those Eureka French Revolution figures are tempting me into making a small purchase! The raggedy ones especially, they would look pretty nifty with stripy tri-colour trousers! Also in my Elting book it shows a figure in the Egyptian campaign with a strange portable contraption for giving shade! Now that would be a bit different......and so would be the purple uniforms some of the troops ended up wearing.
